Global technology giant, Samsung, has announced it will sponsor the 3rd Cycling Lagos slated to hold on June 29, 2024, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, as Stanbic IBTC Bank, Cway, Nutrify, and other brands confirmed their support for the event.
Speaking in Lagos, Michael Nwughala, the Digital Manager of Samsung Electronics, West Africa, said the brand was excited to sponsor the cycling event showcasing its new Galaxy Fit3, a fitness band that combines the advanced features of health monitoring with striking design in a wearable device.
In the words of Nwughala, “The Galaxy Fit3 is targetted to provide a well-rounded but cost-friendly fitness solution for Nigerians to track and enhance their health and fitness levels”.
“It is equipped with different sensors that monitor physical activity, including the heart rate sensor, accelerometer, and gyroscope, and its capabilities can monitor steps, distance, burned calories, and sleep patterns. In addition, this Fit3 supports tracking in multiple sports modes, which enable monitoring of specific activities, such as running, cycling, and swimming.”
He added that normally it can get notifications from the paired smartphone, including calls and messages, apart from its ability to alert the user to particular apps.
He said it may also offer basic smartwatch functionalities such as controlling music playback and setting alarms.
The Children’s Edition of the event will run side by side with the grand finale on June 29 at Teslim Balogun Stadium. Stanbic IBTC Bank backs the Children’s Edition of the event to display its specially designed Chess Account for children, saddled with the responsibility of keeping them abreast of how to save and manage money right from their formative years.
Nutrify—the global nutritional supplement and wellness brand aimed at impacting healthy lifestyles positively—would also be on hand this year to excite Nigerians with some of its products.
The leading brand, Cway, promised to refresh the event on the ground.
The 3rd Cycling Lagos, tagged “Sustainable Health Care,” is expected to provoke discourse on the need to embrace a health care policy that is friendly to the environment and to develop a health care system that guarantees needs of the current population are met without endangering environmental, economic, and social resources for future generations.
The annual cycling event, which kicked off its Tour of Lagos on Saturday June 15, 2024, was a way of promoting a healthy lifestyle in the country.
This Cycling Lagos is also supported by the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lagos State Cycling Association and Nestle Nigeria Plc.
