A bail of $25,000 (£19,000) has been set for Russian dancer Chigvintsev following a domestic violence call in the Californian town of Yountville on Thursday.

There has been quite a scandal involving former Strictly Come Dancing star Artem Chigvintsev, who was recently arrested in the US on suspicion of domestic violence.

According to Officer Henry Wofford from Napa County Sheriff, Chigvintsev was taken into custody following a domestic violence incident in Yountville. The police responded to the call around 10am local time.

Apparently, they were taken to the Napa County Department of Correction and had bail set at $25,000 (£19,000). Quite the scandal!

Information regarding potential injuries cannot be revealed, but Mr. Wofford mentioned that a felony domestic violence arrest is made when injuries are apparent or noticeable to prosecutors.

The Russian dancer made his debut on Strictly during series eight in 2010, where he was paired with ex-EastEnders actress Tointon. Their on-screen chemistry soon turned into a real-life romance that lasted for several years.

The 42-year-old dancer also reached the semi-final of the show in 2011 with actress Holly Valance and later partnered with TV veteran Fern Britton in the 2012 series.

In 2013, he was partnered with Coronation Street star Natalie Gumede, and the two managed to secure the runner-up spot in the competition.

Chigvintsev later made his way to the US version of Strictly, Dancing With The Stars, where in 2017 he was partnered with his future wife, WWE star Nikki Garcia, also known as Nikki Bella.

Did you hear about the couple’s new addition to the family? Their son was born in 2020, right around the same time Nikki’s twin sister Brie Garcia (aka Brie Bella) shared the news of her second child. Quite a coincidence, don’t you think?

The siblings were the main attraction on the E! reality show Total Bellas for a solid five years.

Garcia and Chigvintsev revealed the exciting news of their pregnancy shortly after their engagement in Paris. They tied the knot in 2022, solidifying their love and commitment.

His arrest comes just days after he joyfully celebrated his two-year wedding anniversary with his wife.
