Glastonbury Festival 2024: Weather Forecasts Predict Sunny Spells and Light Rain

With less than a week until the gates open at Worthy Farm, the weather forecast for this year’s Glastonbury Festival predicts a mix of sunny spells and light rain. The festival, featuring headliners Coldplay, SZA, and Dua Lipa, kicks off on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, festival-goers can expect sunny intervals, temperatures around 25°C, and a gentle breeze. However, weather predictions for the Glastonbury period remain uncertain, so attendees should remain flexible. Light rain is forecast for Thursday, but conditions are expected to improve by midday on Saturday, with light clouds, sunny spells, and temperatures in the low 20°C range anticipated for the festival’s final days.

Weather forecasters urge caution regarding current predictions due to uncertainty. Automated weather apps and online forecasts should be treated with skepticism for now. While a period of warm, settled weather is expected to develop early next week, its duration is uncertain, and low pressure could dominate from Wednesday onwards. This uncertainty affects temperature and shower risks day-to-day at Worthy Farm.

With high UV levels forecast for Wednesday, festival-goers should take sun protection measures. The Met Office recommends seeking shade, applying sunscreen, and wearing wide-brimmed hats. It’s advised to avoid direct sunlight between 11:00 and 15:00 BST when UV rays are strongest. Staying hydrated and avoiding excess alcohol are also important, and while a cool shower might not be feasible at the festival, sprinkling yourself with cool water can help keep you cool.
