Around thirty individuals were injured as a result of a fire that broke out on a Ferris wheel that was located at a music event in Germany.
At the Highfield Festival held at Stormthaler Lake, which is located close to Leipzig, on Saturday evening, photographs were taken of the ride that was engulfed in flames, with smoke rising into the air.
At approximately nine o’clock in the evening, two gondolas on the Ferris wheel caught fire, but the reason for the fire is still unknown.
“Those affected are receiving treatment and are doing well considering the circumstances,” the festival said in a statement published after the event.
The statement continued: “We are in close coordination with the fire brigade, the police, and the rescue and medical services.”
The Associated Press reported that about thirty people had injuries.
The flames had completely consumed the two engulfed gondolas, and a fire service representative declared that the situation was now under control.
According to media reports, several police officers were among those who suffered injuries.
In the aftermath of the incident, German rapper Ski Aggu turned to his Instagram account to express his “dismayed and shocked” reaction to the event. Ski Aggu was performing at the time the fire broke out.
He stated, “I am completely and utterly shocked and dismayed by the fire that occurred on the Ferris wheel while I was performing on the Highfield.”
“I was merely told in my ear that I should not cancel the event under any circumstances, but that I should first remain in dialogue with you so that there is no widespread panic.
“The most important thing for me was to make sure that the situation did not become even more serious, which, happily, was successful.
avertingI am grateful to you for maintaining such composure and potentially averting a more serious situation.
“The decisive factor for this was above all the work of the rescue workers, who reacted so quickly and thus prevented the work.”
In spite of the events that had taken place earlier that evening, the festival managers announced shortly after 10 o’clock on Saturday that they had terminated the Ferris wheel and resumed the performances that were taking place on stage.
In addition, they urged everyone to continue to look out for one another. Your performance is very impressive. It is now possible to watch the shows again.
