Lufthansa, a German airline, states that it does not “tolerate discriminatory behaviour of any kind” and is attempting to “understand the situation.”
According to singer Bebe Rexha, an airport employee threatened and “mentally abused” her because she is Albanian.
The 34-year-old shared a heartfelt video on Instagram along with the statement, “I was afraid that the security guard was Albanian.
“I spoke to him in Albanian, asking where to get my ticket, and now he is banning me from the flight.”
The American celebrity, whose family is of Albanian descent, may or may not have been permitted to board the flight from Munich airport.
She stated that she believed the incident to be a “hate crime” because of her race in a message on Saturday to her 12 million followers.
Rexha said that the female staff member did not step in to stop the man employee who “continued to mentally abuse me” and would not reveal his name.
The celebrity, who has worked with Rita Ora and Louis Tomlinson and co-won a UK number one song with David Guetta called “I’m Good (Blue),” claimed she believed the man was a worker for a company that provided services to Lufthansa.
The German airline stated that it does not “tolerate discriminatory behaviour of any kind” and that it was attempting to “understand the situation.”
“We reached out to Bebe Rexha and are in direct contact with her to understand the situation,” stated a spokeswoman.
