Molly Caudery, a member of Team Great Britain’s pole vaulting squad, unfortunately did not cross 4.55 meters during qualification, which resulted in her elimination from the Olympics.
The bronze medalist from Tokyo 2020, Holly Bradshaw, also withdrew from the competition after failing three times at 4.40 meters. As a result, there will be no athletes from the United Kingdom competing in the women’s final.
Caudery, who hails from Cornwall, won the world indoor title in March and established a new British record. She is now in possession of strong prospects of winning a medal in Paris and has also established a world lead in the event in the lead-up to the 2018 Olympic Games.
However, the 24-year-old athlete will not be competing in the final since she surrendered after three unsuccessful attempts at a height that was 37 centimeters lower than her previous British record of 4.92 meters.
According to what she said, “It is truly heartbreaking. I was not expecting this to be the experience I had, and I am very sorry for everyone back in their native country. Even though I wish I could have performed better, I am going to make an effort to learn from this experience and I will attempt to gain as much as I can from it.
“I was in the best shape of my life, and I felt fantastic. I was not overly anxious because I enjoy being in the presence of a large number of people. I am not sure what caused it, but today was not my day.
There was additional dissatisfaction for Great Britain in the field events when both of the men’s discus throwers were unable to qualify for the final. At the end of their individual qualifying groups, Lawrence Okoye and Nicholas Percy came in eleventh and twelveth place, respectively.
