It is thought that the event depicted in the CCTV tape occurred immediately prior to the drowning of a boat flying the flag of the United Kingdom off the coast of Sicily on Monday. There was one fatality as a result of the catastrophe, and six people are still missing.

A camera that was close to the spot where the luxury liner sank off the coast of Sicily on Monday morning captured the footage.

“You can clearly see what is happening,” the witness stated, according to the Italian news agency ANSA, which quoted them as saying. The witness claimed that they watched the vessel sink in about sixty seconds. Concerning the vessel, there was nothing that could be done to help it. Within a very short period of time, it vanished.”

According to reports from the Italian Coast Guard, the body of Recaldo Thomas, a Canadian-Antiguan chef who worked aboard the vessel, has been discovered.

There are still six people who have not been found, including the owner of the boat, a British software tycoon named Mike Lynch, as well as his daughter Hannah, who is 18 years old. Among the fifteen people who were saved, Angela Bacares, who is married to Mr. Lynch, is one of them.

In addition, the search for Jonathan Bloomer, chairman of Morgan Stanley International, Chris Morvillo, a lawyer at the large firm Clifford Chance, and both of their wives, Judy Bloomer and Neda Morvillo, is also carrying on.

Numerous organisations, including as the coast guard and the fire department, are participating in the massive search operation that is currently underway. Cave divers and aircraft have also been called in to further assist in the search.

Nick Sloane, an engineer who led the salvage operation for the cruise ship Costa Concordia that sank in 2013, stated earlier today that rescue divers searching for survivors have entered a “critical” 24-hour period. He added that it is possible that some of the survivors are trapped in air pockets inside the ship, but he also stated that time is running out to save them if that is the case.

Dr. Jean-Baptiste Souppez, senior lecturer in mechanical engineering at Aston University, has claimed the speed at which the vessel sank (a few minutes, according to sources) and the fact that it remains intact “could favour the formation of small air pockets inside.”.
