Data from Contiki, the leading social travel brand for 18-35-year-olds, shows a significant rise in last-minute travel bookings, with a 34% increase in May for travel in June. Contiki has introduced a ‘Spin the Wheel’ promotion, offering up to 50% savings on popular trips and chances to win additional discounts, helping Brits escape the dreary weather this summer.
Contiki’s latest bookings data highlights a growing trend among younger travelers to book holidays on short notice. In May, there was a 34% increase in bookings for June travel, and last-minute bookings (within three months) rose 11% year-over-year. This surge aligns with reports of the UK’s wettest summer in 100 years.
To celebrate this trend, Contiki has launched a spin-the-wheel feature on its website, available until June 30. Travelers can spin the wheel for a chance to win discounts and prizes, with over 200 offers up for grabs, including destinations like Greece, Croatia, Turkey, and more exotic locations in Africa and Asia.
The wheel’s deals range from 50% off to a completely free Contiki trip. Greece and Croatia are the top choices for last-minute bookings, with 25% and 13% of May travelers respectively. For June travel, Turkey leads with 16%, followed by Croatia at 11% and Greece at 9%.
Contiki’s Managing Director, EMEA Kelly Jackson, emphasized the growing desire for spontaneous travel, stating, “With uncertain times and a grim weather forecast, there’s a stronger appetite for spontaneous travel. Younger people are keen to explore and prioritize experiences that promote personal growth and well-being.”
Visit the Contiki website to spin the wheel and secure a last-minute travel bargain before June 30.
