Pakistani Minister Claims Imprisoning Imran Khan for Five Years is Crucial for Economic Stability
A Pakistani minister has asserted that many citizens believe keeping Imran Khan imprisoned until 2029 is essential for the country’s economic stability. Federal Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal expressed concerns that the release of the 71-year-old Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader could trigger renewed protests and unrest, which Pakistan cannot afford.
“People come to us and tell us that for Pakistan to progress, Imran Khan must be kept in jail for five years,” Iqbal, who is also the Secretary-General of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (N), stated while speaking to reporters on Saturday. His comments reflect the contentious political climate in Pakistan and the widespread belief among some segments of the population that Khan’s continued imprisonment is necessary to ensure national stability and economic progress.
