Daniel Radcliffe, known for his iconic role in the Harry Potter series, celebrated a significant career milestone by clinching his inaugural Tony Award at the latest Sunday’s ceremony in New York City. Radcliffe triumphed as best actor in a musical for his compelling portrayal in the revival of Stephan Sondheim’s revered production, Merrily We Roll Along. This Broadway event honored outstanding achievements in theater, granting the play an additional three awards.

During his heartfelt acceptance speech, the 34-year-old extended warm Father’s Day wishes to his father and expressed profound gratitude to his girlfriend, Erin Darke, saying, “My love Erin, you and our son are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love you so much, thank you so much.” Radcliffe also credited his parents for introducing him to Sondheim’s work, reminiscing that performing in the play was “one of the best experiences of my life.”

The evening also saw Jonathan Groff secure his debut Tony Award for his role in the same musical. In his acceptance, he commended his co-stars, Radcliffe and Lindsay Mendez, referring to them as “more than old friends” and predicting a lifelong journey of mutual growth: “You are soulmates, and I’m looking forward to watching each other change for the rest of our lives.”
