Deryck Whibley, the frontman of Sum 41, maintains his assertions regarding the alleged grooming and sexual abuse he experienced as a teenager at the hands of the band’s former manager, Greig Nori.

A week subsequent to Whibley’s disclosure in his recent memoir, Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven and Hell, where he claims Nori abused him—an allegation Nori has refuted—the 44-year-old vocalist asserted that he is being truthful.

“This week has presented significant challenges for me,” Whibley stated in a video shared on X. “I have been informed that Greig Nori has labelled me as a liar.” I can confidently assert that I fully endorse every statement contained in my book, without reservation.

Whibley stated, “I am not being dishonest, and I will address you directly, Greig Nori.” If you believe my statements are untruthful, the only method to resolve this matter is through a sworn testimony. Before a judge, before a jury, at your convenience. I am prepared at your convenience.

Whibley’s recent memoir reveals that Nori, the band’s inaugural manager, subjected him to abuse over an extended period. The two individuals encountered each other when Whibley was 16 years old and Nori was 34, according to The Los Angeles Times. Nori would ultimately assume the role of the band’s manager.

Whibley claims that Nori engaged in a fervent kiss with him in a lavatory during a party and attempted to coerce him into a sexual relationship, asserting that a significant number of rock stars identify as “queer” and that “most individuals are bisexual; they’re simply too hesitant to acknowledge it.”

“His persistence and persuasive arguments led me to consider the possibility that he might indeed be correct,” Whibley noted. Following several months, Whibley sought to terminate their physical relationship, which reportedly led to Nori expressing anger and labelling the singer as “homophobic.”

Nori addressed the allegations in a statement provided to the Toronto Star, effectively dismissing them. Nori stated, “The claim that I initiated the relationship is inaccurate.” “The initiation was not my responsibility.” Whibley commenced it with considerable intensity.

Nori subsequently stated, “At the onset of the relationship, both Whibley and I were adults.”

“The assertion that I exerted pressure on Whibley to maintain the relationship is inaccurate.” The claim that I coerced Whibley into maintaining the relationship by alleging homophobia is inaccurate. The relationship gradually diminished over time. By mutual agreement. The continuation of our business relationship was established.

Nori did not explicitly respond to the allegations of grooming or abuse put forth by Whibley in his statement.

Whibley concluded the video by expressing gratitude to his friends, family, and fans who stepped up to support him in light of Nori’s claims. “We will navigate this situation as we have successfully navigated previous challenges,” he stated.
