Donald Trump wears a bandage on his ear during his first official event with running mate J.D. Vance

Following Saturday’s unsuccessful assassination attempt, the former president’s ear was bandaged during the Republican National Convention in 2024.

On Monday, July 15, 2024, Donald Trump attended the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This meeting was held two days after an attempt on his life during a campaign event in Pennsylvania, which resulted in an ear damage.

To protect his damaged ear, the former president wrapped it in a large bandage. On the opening night of the convention, he was joined on stage by J.D. Vance, a senator from Ohio who had recently been named his running mate.

On July 13, at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, President Trump was shot many times by a 20-year-old gunman named Thomas Matthew Crooks, leaving him injured. Following additional research, investigators concluded that the shooting was a “assassination attempt.” After it was verified that Trump was in good health, Republican Party leaders confirmed that the convention would proceed.

The perpetrators who committed the crime also shot three onlookers: Corey Comperatore, 50, David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74. Comperatore was declared dead on the scene, while Dutch and Copenhaver were both in critical condition.

On Monday, President Trump spoke with the New York Post about the assassination attempt that occurred while he was flying to the Republican National Convention. The former president called it as “very surreal experience.”

He added that the hospital’s physician had never seen anything like this before and thought it was a miracle. He said, “I’m not supposed to be here; I’m supposed to be dead.” “I am supposed to be dead,” she said.
