Breel Embolo struck for Switzerland in the 75 minutes to give his team the lead.
Saka also slotted the penalty lock as England prevailed through the shootouts 5-3.
Reacting to Saka’s display, Ferdinand took to his C handle to shower plaudits on Saka.
“I’d go as far as to say that Bukayo is the most important England player,” Ferdinand wrote.
Saka, Who was named Man of the Match, would hope to help the Three Lions reach back-to-back Euro final when they face the Netherlands in the semi-final on Wednesday.
Ronaldo Koeman’s men came from behind to seal a 2-1 win over Turkey in Saturday’s quarterfinals.
The other semifinal saw three-time Euro champion go up against twice winner France.
