Ganduje Dismisses Bid to Oust Him as APC Chairman as ‘Baseless’

All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje said that attempts to remove him from his job were “baseless” after a court decision. A lawsuit that wanted to get rid of him as the national head of the ruling party was recently turned down by the Federal High Court in Abuja. This lawsuit was brought by the North Central APC Forum, which was led by Saleh Zazzaga, to question Ganduje’s control of the APC. Justice Inyang Ekwo threw out the lawsuit with the case number FHC/ABJ/CS/599/2024. This ended the battle.

The case, which happened just months after Ganduje was named national chairman of the APC, was seen as a major move to weaken his leadership. However, the court’s decision to throw out the lawsuit makes Ganduje’s place within the party even stronger and confirms his right to be in charge of Nigeria’s main political party.

In reaction to the court’s decision, Ganduje said the lawsuit was “baseless” and taking attention away from the important work that needs to be done to move the APC forward. He said the party should keep its attention on meeting the needs of Nigerians and doing its job instead of getting involved in fights within itself. He also said that the court’s ruling had made him look good and proved that he had the right to lead the party.

The lawsuit questioned how Ganduje was chosen as APC leader and said that the process did not follow proper procedures. It also asked for his removal. But Justice Ekwo said that the North Central APC Forum did not have the legal right to bring the case to court, so the whole thing was thrown out. At least for now, this decision ends the legal challenge to Ganduje’s rule.

Ganduje served as governor of Kano State for eight years. He has been a part of the APC for a long time and has been a big part of the party’s political plans. A lot of people thought that making him the national boss of the party was an attempt to keep power before the 2027 elections. Ganduje’s main goals as head have been to bring the party together, make its internal structures stronger, and get ready for the next election.

The lawsuit was thrown out, which is a big win for Ganduje and strengthens his standing as leader of the APC. However, the party’s internal problems are not going to go away completely. Some people in the APC are still not happy with Ganduje’s leadership, and this court case could be just one of many problems he has to deal with as he takes the party to the next election.

Ganduje has asked everyone in the party to put aside their differences and work together to keep the APC strong and united. He stressed how important it was for everyone in the party to work together, especially since the opposition is trying to use any divides to their advantage right now.

Finally, Ganduje’s decision to drop the case that wanted to remove him as APC national chairman has made him a stronger leader and given him the legal support to keep leading the party. He is still focused on his job and has told all APC members to put the party’s goals and Nigerians’ well-being first. Ganduje’s job as leader of Nigeria’s ruling party seems safe for now, even though problems may still arise.
