Hailey Bieber revealed her pregnancy on Instagram last month and has since shared a few photos of her maternity attire with her followers. So far, her pregnancy clothes appear to be much like her usual outfits.
Bieber has used a few key styling methods to wear the same tomboyish basics—baggy denim, oversized menswear, athleisure with a ’80s dad twist—that have always been her off-duty identity.
For example, on June 12, she published her most recent candid photo on Instagram Stories. The 27-year-old sports a green fleece FILA quarter-zip and black biking shorts with outstanding elasticity.
Then there were her more formal night-out ensembles. To accommodate her plus-one, Bieber wore her usual loose pants with a large white top that was left undone. She dressed for an afternoon of running errands in a crop top, boxy blazer, and loose trousers.
It’s helpful that Bieber has traditionally relied on the “big/little” idea of dressing, in which one part is cute and cropped, while the other is boxy or baggy.
Outfits with small tops and large bottoms, such as the one shown above, are more pregnancy-friendly than a flawlessly tailored pantsuit or a fitting minidress. Sure, your crop top used to graze your belly button and is now more of a bra than anything else, but it works! That is sustainability, and we enjoy seeing it.
