In light of Chelsea connections, Barcelona takes the 18-year-old La Masia gem’s departure for granted.

Barcelona have a lot of young talent coming through the ranks at La Masia, and many of those were given an opportunity to make their mark under Xavi Hernandez this past season.
One such player was Marc Guiu, given opportunities by Xavi, with the young La Masia striker making many impressions with goals on his La Liga and Champions League debuts.
However, with his deal running out in 2025, recent updates suggest Guiu could be on his way out, despite Barcelona intending to hold on to his services.
However, with the way things have been going from day to day, indications have emerged that the youngster could be homeward bound to England, with Chelsea at an advanced stage of discussions in securing his signature for his €6 million release clause.
Barcelona taking Marc Guiu’s exit for granted
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona takes the striker as good as ‘lost’ despite all efforts to convince Marc Guiu for renewal, which he has not yet made his final decision on.
Indeed, the Catalan giants seem to be taking this going for granted; everything indicates that the 18-year-old Spaniard will end up signing with Chelsea.
Barça feels that Chelsea’s financial offer is not attainable for the club’s proposal, which offered him to play in the reserve team and be close to the first team, considering that Robert Lewandowski is turning 36.

With Vitor Roque likely to be on his way out on loan, it would have opened up a pathway for Guiu to have some role of prominence with the Barcelona senior team.
These terms, however remain unsatisfactory to the player’s family or his representatives,.
Barcelona feel Guiu has an inflated sense of self-importance
According to the report, Barcelona is under the impression that Marc Guiu has an inflated idea about his position, buoyed by the fact that he has trained with the first team for several weeks and that he made an appearance in and scored for La Liga and Champions League.
For this reason, the Catalans consider that his expectations are higher than what he would be entitled to because of his age and prominence in the first team.
As a result, and according to the feelings of Barça sporting management, the higher Chelsea offer and the promise for him to be important in the first team have tipped the balance towards the Blues.
In any case, Guiu still has to make a decision and communicate it to the club.
However, Barça do not consider that the young striker’s departure will affect them too much because they did not expect him to play a major role in the senior setup, but rather saw him continue his development in the reserve team.
