Justin Timberlake, a former member of the boy band NSYNC, was taken into custody in June when police claimed that he had driven through a stop sign while he was on Long Island, New York, territory.
After pleading guilty to driving while impaired following his arrest in June, Justin Timberlake has told the general public to “call a friend or take an Uber” if they have been drinking. This comes after Timberlake entered a guilty plea to the charge.
The 43-year-old entered the amended plea on Friday at his personal appearance in Sag Harbour Village Court in the Hamptons, which is in the state of amended York, which is a lesser charge than driving while intoxicated, which he denied last month.
For the non-criminal traffic offence, the judge imposed a punishment of $500 (£380) on Timberlake, along with a penalty of $260 and 25 hours of community service at a nonprofit organisation of his choosing.
After the sentence was handed down, the singer made the following statement: “Even if you’ve had one drink, you shouldn’t get behind the wheel of a car.”
Also, he stated, “There are a great deal of other options.” It is possible for you to phone a friend or take an Uber.
The Grammy winner, who has won ten awards, went on to say, “This is a mistake that I made, but I’m hoping that whoever is watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake.” There is no doubt in my mind that I have.”
The police on Long Island, New York, took the musician best known for his hit song “Cry Me a River” into custody on June 18 in the early morning hours after they received a report that he had failed to stop at a stop sign and was unable to maintain his lane while driving.
So, the court papers revealed that his eyes were described as “bloodshot and glassy,” and apparently, he didn’t do so well on any of those standard field sobriety tests. Quite the situation, isn’t it?
Throughout the whole affair, the singer was on their feet the entire time. He mentioned his upbringing in a quaint little town and how the whole situation has really stirred things up in Sag Harbour.
Oh, he claims he’s been doing some serious soul-searching about what he’s done. “I totally fell short of the expectations I set for myself,” he admitted, sharing that he’s “thankful for the chance to move on” and use his influence to maybe guide others towards making “wiser choices.”.
“I really should’ve thought this through,” he confessed to the judge. “I totally get how serious this is.”
His license got suspended last month! He actually pleaded not guilty to that serious charge of driving while intoxicated. If he gets hit with that, he could be facing some hefty penalties, including jail time and fines that could reach up to $2,000 (£1,520) for a first offence. Can you believe it?
Timberlake, who supposedly turned down a breath test after getting arrested, is totally denying all those claims!
Edward Burke, Timberlake’s lawyer, has been insisting that he wasn’t under the influence at all.
According to rumours, the singer was out having dinner with some friends when the police unexpectedly pulled him over right after leaving the restaurant.
But Timberlake was a child star, performing as a young Disney Mouseketeer with none other than Britney Spears, whom he later had a high-profile romance with! And let’s not forget Ryan Gosling and Christina Aguilera were also part of that iconic crew.
In 1995, he joined NSYNC, which turned out to be one of the most successful boy bands ever, and then he kicked off a solo music career in the early 2000s.
Timberlake is hitched to the lovely actress Jessica Biel, and they’ve got two adorable little boys running around!
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more exciting, Timberlake is set to grace the stage of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this Monday night, right after wrapping up his European tour.
