Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company is mandating an increase in electricity tariff for ‘Band A’ customers of the company who enjoy 20–24 hours of daily power supply.
The Disco made the increase known on Wednesday in a statement by Head of its Corporate Communications, Abdulazeez Abdullahi.

The power firm said the tariff moved up to N209.90 per kilowatt-hour from N206.80.
This development will be second time the Disco is declaring a hike in tariff for Band A and A/Bvertisement guests in only less than one week to its April 3 tariff increase.

It read: “The Management of Kaduna Electric hereby brings to the notice of the general public, the upward review of the tariff of Band A feeders from N206.80/kwh to N209.5/kwh.
“The review is with effect from 1st July 2024 and it affects both pre-paid and post-paid customers. Kaduna Electric wishes to assure her customers on her Band A feeders that the 20-24hrs supply daily as stipulated in the Service Based Tariff regime remains unchanged.

“The public should please note that bands B, C, D and E tariff remain unchanged.”
Recall that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission approved tariff increase for consumers of electricity on April 3, 2024, jacking up rates to N225 from N68 per kWh, which translated to a 245 percent hike.
Reacting to what has been termed consumer outcry, the electricity distribution companies announced slant reduction in their tariffs in May 2024, a decision later confirmed by NERC.
