Both the historic beginning of the monarch’s reign as Charles III and the passing of his mother are commemorated on Accession Day, which is a momentous occasion for the Royal Family.
There was a memorial ceremony held in honour of the King’s mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on the second anniversary of her passing. The service took place at a church located close to Balmoral.
The late monarch frequently visited the small granite Crathie Kirk, where the king arrived two years after ascending to the throne with Queen Camilla.
John Swinney, the First Minister of Scotland, was present to accompany the royal couple there.
The late Queen passed away in a calm and quiet manner on September 8, 2022, when she was 96 years old. The King, who is 75 years old, has been staying at his estate in Aberdeenshire, which is located in the Highlands.
After receiving a cancer diagnosis himself, as well as the news that his daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, had also been diagnosed with the disease, Charles faced a second year as king that was personally trying.
Diane Brandish, a tourist from Christchurch, New Zealand, went to Scotland to meet the king. She was one of the people who came to show their support and wish the monarch well.
She said that “he was very gracious” and that the sight of the King was an unanticipated “bonus” that she received on her vacation.
Her statement was as follows: “We were just passing by, and I was completely unaware that King Charles would be present.”
“Most people in New Zealand follow the royal family quite closely and are aware of the anniversary.”
Meanwhile, the official social media account of the Royal Family published a photograph on X that showed the late Queen of England beaming with joy while attending a garden party at Buckingham Palace in the summer of 2019.
Additionally, the words “Remembering Queen Elizabeth II, 1926-2022” were displayed with an image of the monarch, who was dressed in a hat of a light pink colour and a matching outfit.
The Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, praised the “70 glorious years of her reign” in his own words.
The message that Sir Keir put on social media stated, “Today marks two years since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II,” and it was about two years ago.
We learnt from the late Queen’s unwavering commitment to the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth that the importance of service would always be there, regardless of the hardships that our nation may be facing.
She was at the centre of this nation’s life for the seventy years that she reigned, which were filled with glory. This day, we pay tribute to her memory.
Accession Day is a momentous occasion for the King, as it marks the anniversary of both the momentous beginning of his reign as Charles III and the passing of his mother.
