In his polling unit, Ighodalo, a candidate for the People’s Democratic Party, defeated Omulide Akpata, a candidate for the Labour Party, in the governor’s race in Edo State in 2024. Ighodalo was the candidate who won the election.

Oredo Local Government Area’s Ward 06 was the location of the voting unit where Akpata’s LP received 32 votes, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) received 41 votes, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) received 19 votes.

In the meantime, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the 007 voting unit, which is located in the vicinity of Agbor/Ogbonka-Agbor Primary School, within the Esan South-East Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo State. This polling unit is located in the state of Edo.

At that particular polling unit, the All Progressives Congress (APC) earned 132 votes, while the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) received 78 votes, and the Labour Party did not receive any votes.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) received 127 votes at polling unit 19, Ward 4 in the Oredo Local Government Area, while the Labour Party (LP) received 35 votes and the All Progressives Congress (APC) received 11 votes. The results were varied depending on which party received the most votes.

As a result of the findings, which have caused a stir in the political world, Ighodalo was able to score a significant victory within Akpata’s own electoral base.

Despite the fact that Akpata had a substantial presence in Oredo Local Government Area (LGA), which was regarded to be a base of support for the previous president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ighodalo was successful with a margin of 9 votes over Akpata’s 32 votes.
