Lynn Williams, a member of the United States national football team, celebrated her victory at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris with a bit too much jubilation.

After announcing on Instagram on August 11 that the ribbon that was supposed to hang around her neck was no longer attached to the hardware, the forward for the United States women’s national soccer team, who is 31 years old, went into detail on TikTok about how she destroyed her medal.

On August 10, Williams was in the midst of joyfully celebrating Team USA’s victory over Brazil by a score of 1-0 when the medallion portion fell off.

While the athlete was preparing food, he posted a video on TikTok in which he displayed the shattered honour. He said, “Thought it was finally time to tell you the long-awaited question… how did I break my medal?” Why did I end up with the most expensive roller coaster in the world?

A prior film of Williams swinging the medal around during the Olympic celebrations was inserted into the current video that she shared with her followers. Williams then demonstrated to her fans that the bar that had been holding the ribbon had been removed at that point.

Unfortuitously, that was not the way that it broke… “I’m sure it didn’t help, but that’s not how it broke,” Williams said, in spite of the fact that she had been dancing at the time the incident occurred.

“I had it on my shoulder like a little purse, and I was just jumping, dancing, jumping,” she commented in the TikTok video. She went on to say, “And I jumped down, and it just fell off.” I was wandering around trying to pick up my medal from the ground as everyone else was participating in the dance. The fact that it has a dent now makes it an absolutely one-of-a-kind item.

“I just think they should have made these better, they should have made them more sturdy, and honestly, I can’t be faulted for that,” Williams argued, revealing that she had been in contact with the International Olympic Committee on the matter.

“I don’t know if I’m going to get it fixed,” Williams said to the camera. “I want to know.” Currently, we are awaiting a response from the International Olympic Committee (IOC). According to them, I should be able to buy one. I had to demonstrate to them that it was, in fact, damaged, but at this point, all we can do is wait and see what happens. In the event that it is not, I believe that it is a cool and funny narrative.
