Maren Morris has received death threats as a result of her criticism of Morgan Wallen for using a racial term. Similar threats have been made against other individuals as well. There have been other people who have gotten threats of this nature besides Maren Morris.
During the episode of Sophia Bush’s Work in Progress podcast that aired on Thursday, August 29, the Grammy winner, who is 34 years old, revealed that in addition to the hatred she encountered after speaking out against the singer of “Last Night” in February 2021, her son, Hayes Andrew, who is four years old, also received death threats. Hayes Andrew is the only child in the family. The lone child in the household is a young man named Hayes Andrew.
According to Morris, in response to the inquiry, “I mean, the death threat portion for me as a young mother was, yeah, obviously, like, scary,” he stated. Additionally, I was not the target of any death threats that were made against me. none of them were made. As an additional point of interest, it was directed towards my son. The thought that you might be having right now is, “Oh, wow. When we reach this moment, we are going to incorporate the children, the ones for whom you have been so concerned the entire time.
According to the vocalist of “Cut!”, she has been pondering ways in which someone could be “this pissed” at “the criticism of cruelty” for a number of years.
According to my understanding, the reason for this is that they are not only defending the one who made this statement, but they are also taking it personally, as if I were attacking them. I believe that this reveals a great deal more about their understanding of criticism and the nature of the criticism that they were expressing than it does about me as a person who is calling out someone who is using the N-word. Morris contends that there is “or even transphobia, which I have previously criticised and which has sort of, like, exploded in another wave.”
She made it abundantly obvious that she was, in her capacity as a “peer” in the music industry, encouraging Wallen, who was 31 years old, as well as the music industry as a whole to “do better.”
When Wallen was caught on camera using the N-word in a video that was made public in February of 2021, the footage was leaked. Because of this, those who are involved in the country music community, such as Morris, Mickey Guyton, and Kelsea Ballerini, voiced their worry with his use of the racial slur.
Ballerini, who is thirty years old at the time, tweeted that “the news out of Nashville tonight does not represent country music.” This occurred during the time period in question. Nevertheless, there were others who rejected this viewpoint; one of them was Morris.
“It actually IS representative of our town because this isn’t his first ‘scuffle’ and he just demolished a huge streaming record last month regardless,” she wrote on the social media platform. Everyone is in complete agreement that he has used this word in the past. There is no room for debate. We will do whatever it takes to ensure that they continue to be affluent and protected, even if it means not having any legal recourse.
In the past, Morris has not been shy about expressing her progressive ideals and her desire to bring about a change in the country music industry. Some of the beliefs that she has had include her support for the LGBTQ+ community, her backing for the Black Lives Matter movement, and her criticism of individuals who have made comments that are transphobic, such as Brittany Kerr Aldean, who is married to Jason Aldean.
