Courteney Cox pays homage to Matthew Perry a year after his passing.

On her Instagram account, the actress, who is sixty years old, declared, “Missing you today and always.” Immediately after the message, she tagged the addiction charity that had been established in his name and followed it with a heart emoji.

Perry’s body was discovered on October 28, 2023, at his residence. He was 54 years old. Ketamine was first determined to be the principal cause of death by a medical examiner at a later time.

In the seventh season of the American television programme Friends, Perry’s Chandler Bing and Cox’s Monica tied the knot in a two-part episode titled “The One With Monica And Chandler’s Wedding.” Both of these actors are well-known in the public eye as a result of their roles in the successful comedy Friends.

A black-and-white picture of her with Perry and another including the other members of the Friends ensemble, including Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, and Lisa Kudrow, were also posted by Cox.

Aniston, who portrayed Rachel Green on the show, also posted a collection of photographs of Perry to her Instagram account on Monday. The photos were captioned with the phrase “1 year” and included a bandaged heart and a dove emoji.

Throughout his life, Perry was transparent about his struggles with drug misuse and addiction. He also established a sober living home for men who were struggling with difficulties that were comparable to his own.

During an interview with podcaster Tom Power in the year 2022, Perry expressed his desire that “When I die, I do not want friends to be the first thing that is mentioned.” It is my hope that the first thing that is addressed is the act of assisting other people.

Following the news of his passing, the cast of Friends issued a joint statement to the journal People in the United States, expressing their “utterly devastated” situation.

An investigation into the murder of a US actor revealed a “broad underground criminal network” of people who “took advantage” of him when he relapsed into addiction. Five individuals were arrested earlier this year.

According to US attorney Martin Estrada, Perry was seeking therapy for depression and anxiety when he became hooked to intravenous ketamine, leading to allegedly “unscrupulous doctors who saw Perry as a way to make quick money”.

Ketamine is a sedative that can be used recreationally to treat depression and to manage pain.

Perry’s mother, Suzanne Morrison, told NBC last week that he appeared to have a “premonition” about his death during one of their last conversations.

She claimed, “He approached me and said, ‘I love you so much, and I’m so happy to be with you now.'”

“It was almost like a premonition. I didn’t realise it at the time, but I wondered, ‘How long has it been since we’ve had such a conversation? “It’s been years.
