Michael Ihaza, Okojie’s media aide, divulged this information in a statement that was issued on Friday, September 20, 2024. The statement was made public.
According to Ihaza, who asserted that the individuals who assaulted the husband of Nollywood star Mercy Johnson were armed individuals who appeared to be law enforcement officers, they arrived in a Lexus GX 470 with a Rivers State registration number of PHC 253 FF. Ihaza also stated that the individuals who attacked Mercy Johnson were involved in the attack.
It was Okojie’s security team that challenged the perpetrators of the attack, which ultimately prevented the attempt on his life from taking place. The consequence of this was that the attack did not take place.
There was a detrimental impact on the outcome of the scenario as a result of the intervention of security officials who were linked with the politician.
Following their entrance into the property of Hon. Okojie, the armed thugs who had disguised themselves as police officers, along with two other individuals, pretended to be on their way to an appointment and then proceeded to the seating area of the residence.
Two of the armed thugs were able to flee after the involvement of the security personnel assigned to the legislator. Officers from the Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force, which is based in Uromi, are currently questioning the driver and another person they left behind. Additionally, another person is being questioned at this time.
The official announcement stated that “the suspects have so far made a confessional statement stating that they were sent on the mission by People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in Esan North East Local Government Area.” Through this statement, a reference was made to the fact that the suspects had previously made the statement.
According to the allegations, the occurrence took place on the eve of the election for governor in the state that is situated in the Southwest region of the United States. Senator Monday Okpebholo, the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has garnered a great deal of support from Okojie, who has officially endorsed him.
