The new Mexican administration is willing to give up outgoing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s objective of self-sufficiency in yellow corn production and turn its focus to white—used mainly for tortillas—at self-sufficiency. The new administration will reduce half of the deforestation currently linked to agriculture in six years as a measure against the impact on the environment caused by current farming practice.
