Want something like an AirTag but for your Android? Well, the MotoTag just might be it. Motorola has announced its answer to the Apple AirTag: the MotoTag—a small, dedicated item tracker designed to help Android users keep on top of their stuff. This nifty gadget works with most Android phones and currently seems to embrace its formation from within Motorola’s device ecosystem.
The Moto Tag utilizes the tech of Google’s Find My Device network and Ultra-Wideband for accurate tracking. Using the Find My Device app, users can track their tagged items from almost any location in the world. Users of android phones with UWB technology, like the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, have in store for them more precise location tracking with this moto tag.
The most striking feature of the moto tag has to be the button that combines various functions. With a single press, it can ring the user’s smartphone to help in finding the device in case it is misplaced. It can also become a remote control for taking photos and particularly, it will be useful when paired with Motorola’s Razr series in flex view modeu.
According to Motorola, the moto tag is a private offer, backed by Google’s secure Find My Device network. The location data of the user is kept encrypted so that only the owner of the tag or anybody he chooses can view the whereabouts of the tag as a result. It delivers more protection against unwanted tracking by sending automatic unknown tracker notifications on Android and iOS. Users have the ability to perform manual scans in search of any unwanted tags following them.
Setting up the Moto Tag isn’t too much of a hassle. It will turn on, then pair with a user’s smartphone quickly via Google Fast Pair once it is powered on and in close proximity. Additional settings, like tag naming, alert volumes, and even checking battery life, can be configured through the Moto Tag app.
The sleek design of the Moto Tag makes it compatible with most third-party accessories, thus suitable for attaching to any item of choice. It has an IP67 rating: it’s dust-, dirt-, and water-immersion-resistant up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. It runs on a replaceable CR2032 battery, good for up to a year on a single charge. Availability
The moto tag will be available in select markets within the coming months. Motorola is yet to reveal whether the new device would be launched in India or not. Considering that this new offering from Motorola is going to bring convenience and peace of mind to people by keeping their valuables easily trackable and secure, that is an important point.
