Angela Carini, an Italian boxer, was knocked out by two strikes delivered by Imane Khelif, who was unable to pass a gender test at the World Championship. As a result, Angela Carini broke down in tears and walked away from the fight with what appears to be a fractured nose. Because of her gender, Angela Carini was not able to pass the test.
During the last moments of the Olympic boxing match between Angela Carini and Imane Khelif, Angela Carini broke down in tears. The match had been going on for forty-six seconds since it began.
Khelif, who is 25 years old, was given permission to compete in the Olympics in Paris 2024 after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) determined that she satisfies their eligibility rules. Khelif is competing in the Olympic Games in Paris. This was in spite of the fact that both professional boxers and fans had voiced their concerns on her participation in the event. Khelif was disqualified from competing in the World Championships the year before because it was decided that she did not match the rules for gender eligibility. This led to her being banned from competing in the World Championships.Irrespective of the fact that Carini did not acknowledge Khelif prior to the ringing of the bell, she departed the game in tears with what appeared to be a fractured nose after there had been 46 seconds of play. It appeared that Carini’s chin strap had been knocked off after the Algerian had delivered two blows on her. As a consequence of this, the Italian wrestler went back to her corner and made the decision to withdraw from the confrontation.
Immediately after Carini made the decision to withdraw from their fight, she delivered a statement to the Italian media in which she said that she had “never felt a punch like it” when she was struck by Khelif. This remark was read by the Italian media. She continued by saying that the “heartbroken” boxer was in Paris in order to “honor her father and represent her country.” This was an insult to the damage that she had already caused.
Due to the fact that she was disqualified from the Women’s World Boxing Championships the previous year, along with Lin Yu-Ting of Chinese Taipei, Khelif’s presence in Paris has been met with controversy. This is because of the fact that she was disqualified. This is as a result of the fact that she was one of the participants that was eliminated from the competition.
Umar Kremlev, the President of the International Basketball Association (IBA), announced in the month of March in the year 2023 that a DNA test had shown that Khelif possessed XY chromosomes. Kremlev made this announcement. On the other hand, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) later confirmed that Khelif had been disqualified from the competition because of the high amounts of testosterone that were found in his physiological system.
Khelif has been given permission to compete as a result of the fact that they have adopted a distinct set of rules that were based on the rules that were in place during the last Summer Olympics. Boxing competitions at the Olympic Games are now under the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) jurisdiction, which was formerly held by the International Boxing Association (IBA).
“All athletes participating in the boxing tournament of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 comply with the competition’s eligibility and entry regulations, as well as all applicable medical regulations in accordance with rules 1.4 and 3.1 of the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit,” the International Olympic Committee stated in a statement that was distributed to the media. “The competition’s eligibility and entry regulations are also applicable.”
“The PBU [Paris Boxing Unit] endeavoured to restrict amendments to minimise the impact on athletes’ preparation and guaranteeing consistency between Olympic Games.”
