According to Nigeria midfielder Bruno Onyemaechi, fans’ expectations put them under high pressure whenever they put on the country’s green and white jersey.
Boavista defender Bruno Ecu Onyemaechi told EaglesTracker that Wilfred Ndidi played a huge role in mollifying the pressure in an interview.
“When you put on the Nigeria shirt, the pressure is too much; you need to win. Even if you are playing in England, even if you are playing for the biggest team in the world, you need to win.
“My teammates in Portugal always tell me the same thing. Nigeria is bigger than Portugal [in terms of] the pressure.”.
“Pressure came on me a little. I was a little shaky in the head when the game started; 15, 20 minutes, and some of my teammates have noticed, especially Ndidi.
“Ndidi has seen that I was shaking a little and called to say, be more relaxed; every player will go through this.”.
