Sean Combs, a prominent figure in the music industry, is currently confronted with allegations of sexual misconduct from 120 additional accusers, one of whom asserts that he was subjected to abuse at the age of nine.
Tony Buzbee, an attorney based in Houston representing the plaintiffs, indicated that he anticipates the initiation of lawsuits within the forthcoming month.
According to his statement, there were 60 male and 60 female accusers, with 25 of them being children at the time of the alleged offences.
The claims regarding Combs span from 1991 to the present year.
“This category of sexual assault, sexual abuse, and sexual exploitation is unacceptable and should not occur in the United States or any other location,” Mr. Buzbee stated during a press conference.
“This situation should not have persisted for such an extended period.” This behaviour has resulted in a significant number of individuals who are harmed, fearful, and traumatised.
Mr. Buzbee indicated that the majority of the lawsuits are anticipated to be lodged in New York and Los Angeles. In addition to the 120 accusers, additional cases are currently under review, he stated.
Combs, also known as P Diddy and Puff Daddy, is awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
In light of the recent assertions, his legal representative stated that he “cannot respond to each unfounded accusation in what has evolved into an irresponsible media spectacle.”.
“In light of the allegations, Mr. Combs firmly and unequivocally rejects any assertion that he engaged in sexual abuse of any individual, including minors,” Erica Wolff stated in her announcement.
“He anticipates demonstrating his innocence and achieving vindication in court, contingent upon the filing and serving of claims, where factual evidence will be the basis for establishing the truth, rather than conjecture.”
A significant proportion of the clients represented by Mr. Buzbee’s firm originate from California, New York, Georgia, and Florida, with allegations coming from over 25 states overall.
Combs is currently contending with several additional lawsuits that have been initiated over the past year. The most recent allegations are also in the context of a video that surfaced in May, depicting him assaulting his former partner, Cassie.
He expressed regret at the time for what he termed his “inexcusable” behaviour in the video, stating he was “disgusted” by his actions.
Combs has been incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn, New York, following his not guilty plea on 17 September to allegations that he leveraged his influence to coerce women into drug-influenced sexual acts with male sex workers. The term “freakoffs” was reportedly assigned to these instances.
He has also entered a plea of not guilty to charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, asserting his intention to vigorously contest the allegations against him.
Combs’s legal representatives proposed a bail package valued at $50 million (£37.8 million), contingent upon his placement under house arrest at his residence in Florida, equipped with GPS tracking and stringent visitor restrictions. To date, the applications for bail submitted by his legal team have been rejected.
Combs, a three-time Grammy winner, established Bad Boy Records in 1993 and is recognised as a prominent figure in the hip-hop industry, both as an executive and performer.
