Real Madrid sell Joselu to Qatari team after activating buy option

Real Madrid confirmed the sale of Spain striker Joselu to Qatari side Al-Gharafa on Friday after buying him from Espanyol by activating a clause in his loan deal.

Joselu sensationally struck twice late on against Bayern Munich to fire Madrid into the Champions League final, won for a record 15th time, and was on a temporary deal this season at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“Real Madrid, after exercising the option to purchase Joselu from Espanyol agreed with Al-Gharafa for the transfer of our player,” Los Blancos issued a statement.

He was sold at that same price by Madrid, but Espanyol weren’t ready to let him go to the Qatari league at that fee.
The 34-year-old target man has scored 18 times in 49 appearances for Real Madrid despite often being used off the bench.

Joselu is included in Spain’s Euro 2024 squad, as is defender Nacho Fernandez as he signed for Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah on Thursday, bringing an end to his Real Madrid deal.
