Xiaomi India has confirmed that it will soon be launching its budget Redmi 13 5G smartphone here in India. The company made it official last week, saying the launch will happen on July 9. It succeeds the Redmi 12 5G that was launched last year in August. Past the microphone fact, the smartphone has indeed recently been listed on Amazon India, which confirms the design, chipset, and details of the battery the device will come with. Here are five things we know about the smartphone ahead of the official launch next month. Design: It comes with a design that’s similar to the Redmi 12, albeit with some refinements. The phone carries a boxy design and a dual rear camera setup comes in a pink and blue colour option. The Amazon listing has shown a “Crystal Glass design,” expected to lend some sort of premium feels in a budget.
- Display: While the specifics on the display have not been detailed, it is largely agreed that the Redmi Note 13 5G will have one of the biggest displays in its price range. It will feature a punch-hole design with a notch and will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The previous model, the Redmi 12 5G, had a huge 6.79-inch LCD screen, so this one should be somewhat big or of the same size.
- Processor: Inside, the Redmi Note 13 5G will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. It is the same processor that found itself in its predecessor, the Redmi 12 5G. While the Redmi 12 5G was up and running on MIUI 14, it is said that the new Redmi 13 5G will feature the company’s new HyperOS.
- Battery and Charging: 5,030mAh battery, 33W fast charging will be supported.
- Expected Price: The Redmi Note 13 5G is expected to be priced under Rs 15,000, like its predecessor, the starting price of which was Rs 10,999. The exact pricing only is being announced at the time of the launch scheduled for July 9 at 12 PM.
While we still know about the Redmi 13 5G in bits and pieces, only on the launch day will we come to know all the details. Considering the device is expected to be an upgrade over last year’s Redmi 12 5G, a quick recap of the specifications on the phone can give us a bit of a perspective on what we can expect from the Redmi 13 5G.
The Redmi 12 5G featured a glass back panel that brought in a premium look and feel, which is a big plus for a smartphone that comes starting at Rs 10,999. It sported an infinite camera deco at the top left with silver metallic rims surrounding the camera lenses. The phone weighed around 198.5 grams.
The display in the Redmi 12 5G was measured at 6.79 inches with a resolution of FHD+ and a 90Hz refresh rate. The display itself was of a punch-hole design, with slim bezels on three sides. On the back side, it sported a 50-megapixel main camera, along with a 2-megapixel depth camera and an LED flash. The selfie camera was an 8-megapixel sensor.
To be more specific, in August 2023, it was launched, and available in India, the Redmi 12 5G. Complete with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, it promised buttery smooth performance from the get-go. Teasers and, as noted above, the the chipset in the Redmi 13 5G are going to be the same. Running the Redmi 12 5G was a 5,000mAh battery, with support for 18W fast charging through a Type-C USB port.
