Ruger Asserts Nigeria Has Fewer Than Five Truly Talented Musicians
Popular singer Michael Adebayo Olayinka, known as Ruger, has asserted that Nigeria currently boasts fewer than five genuinely talented musicians. In a recent interview with Cool FM, Lagos, Ruger criticized most Nigerian artists for “singing for cruise” rather than creating meaningful music.
Ruger stated, “Those of us who are talented and making proper music are not up to five. I’m not the biggest artist in Nigeria, but talent-wise, I’m somewhere on that list.”
Although he refrained from naming the artists he considers talented, Ruger emphasized his place among them. He also shared his surprise at his popularity in Israel, where he recently sold out a 7,000-capacity venue.
