Jos Buttler, captain of the Manchester Originals, won the toss and decided to bat first in order to set a tough score. The Originals got off to a fast start, and starter Phil Salt was very important to that. Salt showed off his aggressive way of hitting the ball by getting 48 runs off of 30 balls, with two sixes and six boundaries. His innings helped the team build a strong base.

Along with Salt, Laurie Evans made a big contribution with a calm 35-run knock off of 27 balls. People in the middle order, like Buttler and Colin Ackermann, helped the score by scoring runs. Buttler was especially impressive. He scored 25 runs off of just 12 balls, including two huge sixes, which helped the run rate pick up near the end of the game.

There was a controlled bowling attack from the Trent Rockets against the Originals. Rashid Khan and Luke Wood were the best bowlers. With just 20 balls, Rashid Khan was able to take 2 wickets for 28 runs, which is good spin bowling. Although they worked hard, the Originals only scored 162 runs in 100 balls and lost 6 wickets.
