Several hours after an explicit audio recording of a sexual act was heard on his Instagram Live, the host of Club Shay Shay made a statement on an emergency episode of Nightcap, the podcast that he co-hosts with fellow former NFL great Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson. Sharpe originally claimed that his account had been hacked.
Sharpe, who is 56 years old, stated, “Obviously I am embarrassed.” “[I am] someone who is extremely, extremely private, and the fact that one of your most intimate details, the audio, was heard for the entire world to hear, I am embarrassed for a number of reasons,” she said.
Sharpe continued by saying, “People count on Shannon,” using the third-person perspective. Media that shay-shay. In the world of ESPN, there are a great number of people that depend on him at anytime. Despite the fact that I am in the privacy of my own house, I still make an effort to maintain a level of professionalism even when I am behind closed doors. I am really disappointed in myself, not because of the act, because there are millions and billions of people of consenting age who participate in activities.
He went on to clarify that the sexual act was not “staged” and that he is not familiar with Instagram Live and has never used it before. The NFL Hall of Famer also stated that he had never used Instagram Live before.
On top of that, he continued, “I’ve never turned on Instagram Live, so I have no idea how it works.”
Sharpe stated that he started to be aware of what had transpired when his phone began to be flooded with calls from people who were attempting to get in touch with him.
“Man, my heart began to sink,” he remarked. “It fell to them.”
In an Instagram Story that he posted earlier in the day, the former tight end for the Denver Broncos stated that his account had been stolen.
“Watch out for my @shannonsharpe84.” His team and I are working hard to figure out what happened to Instagram this morning,” he said, signing the email with his pseudonym, Unc. “We are working hard to figure out what happened.”
Shaquille O’Neal and Sharpe got into a fight earlier this summer, which was another reason why Sharpe was in the news.
Sharpe accused O’Neal of being envious of Nikola Jokic, a player for the Denver Nuggets, during their subsequent conversation regarding the NBA Most Valuable Player award from the previous season.
In an interview with Nightcap, the former football player expressed his belief that O’Neal, who has only one Most Valuable Player title to his name from his Hall of Fame NBA career, was “envious” of Jokic in part.
After some time had passed, O’Neal issued a diss track in which he referred to Sharpe as “way beneath me” and referred to his podcast as “bulls###.”
In the month of May, while Sharpe was walking the red carpet at the Webby Awards, he stated that he does not have any issues with Shaq.
In response to what he stated, I am prepared to move on with my life.
