Ashlyn Watkins, a well-known women’s basketball player at the University of South Carolina, was arrested and accused of assault and kidnapping. Watkins was among those imprisoned.
The University of South Carolina Police Department issued a warrant for Watkins’ arrest, which led to his detention in Columbia, South Carolina. This was a result of the warrant. Watkins was accused of attacking the kid by “forcefully grabbing her face, pulling her arms, and pushing,” according to CNN and WLTX19. The claims were included in the warrant.
There were allegations that Watkins kidnapped the woman against her will and “grabbed the victim’s head and forced her to walk down the hall, thereby controlling her movement while preventing her from leaving.” These offences were allegedly mentioned in the warrant. The warrant said that these allegations were made.
The victim was able to flee the site and activate a fire alarm in accordance with the warrant that was issued. According to CNN, when local police and fire officials got on the scene, the man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The victim died shortly after officials arrived.
Watkins was freed on a personal recognition bond of $30,000 immediately upon her arrest, and she was instructed not to contact the victim, either directly or indirectly, based on the information presented.
She is scheduled to appear in court again on October 25. Watkins will be permitted to travel with the team to games and practices held outside of the state while this is occurring. Watkins will be able to join the team wherever they go.
The school told WLTX19 that they were aware of Watkins’ arrest and were gathering information about it. They provided this information to WLTX19. This is despite the fact that the university has yet to issue a statement or remark on whether Watkins will continue to be a member of the squad.
