Starlink announced that high-speed, low-latency internet is now available in Madagascar.The satellite telecommunications company Starlink announced officially via its X page, formerly called Twitter, that its high-speed and low-latency internet service is now available for commercial use in Madagascar.
The mileachmarker journey started in April 2024, when Tahina Razafindramalo, Madagascar’s Minister of Digital Development, Posts, and Telecommunications, declared that Starlink had been granted all the necessary authorizations from Malagasy authorities. It was on the last step of infrastructure setup and concluding the regulatory requirements to obtain the satellite operator license.
The commercial launch is strategically set in the third quarter of 2024 since it aligns with Starlink’s goal of expanding its global internet coverage. This is a move that will significantly help in making the internet more accessible and easier to connect to in Madagascar.
Starlink has won regulatory nod in 13 African countries, a key milestone in the extending high-speed, low-latency internet offerings to the continent and finally connecting those places with poor connectivity.
