The Swedish authorities have detained and arrested a person on suspicion of aiding and abetting the murder of two British citizens who were discovered dead in a burnt-out car in Malmo. The bodies of the four individuals were discovered in the car.

The bodies of the two victims, Farooq Abdulrazak, 37, and Juan Cifuentes, 33, were discovered on July 14th. Additionally, the prosecutor has stated that the names of the victims have been established.

Following their failure to return home from a business trip to Denmark and Sweden, the families of the two men from north London claimed that they were missing a few days prior to the incident.

While investigations between Swedish and British police continued, the office of the prosecutor announced on Thursday that the suspect would be questioned and imprisoned for a maximum of three days during the duration of the inquiry.

It was stated by Magnus Pettersson, the senior prosecutor who is in charge of the inquiry, that “the investigation has now reached a point where a person has today been served with suspicion regarding involvement in the events that led to two people being found dead on July 14.” Interrogations are going to take place immediately, not only with the suspect but also with other people. Immediately following that, I will make a decision regarding the ongoing restriction of personal liberty.

In addition to that, additional investigative work is currently being carried out, which includes technological investigations, the collecting and examination of digital evidence, and a variety of other things. This work is carried out in both Sweden and Great Britain at the same time.

The Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom and the Malmö Police Department both stated that they were unable to comment on the case.

“I can confirm that one person is being held for aiding and abetting the murder of the two persons mentioned below [Abdulrazak and Cifuentes],” Pettersson said in an interview . Given the current state of the investigation, we will not make any further comments on the matter.

According to Swedish legislation, the prosecutor’s office has until the middle of the day on 1 September to decide whether or not the arrested person should be remanded in custody.
