The director of photography published a number of Instagram accounts that paid tribute to his mother, who passed away on August 14th. These accounts were shared in memory of his mother.
Nick Cassavetes, Gena Rowlands’s son, is honouring his mother’s memory in order to carry on her legacy after she passed away at the age of 94.
Cassavetes’ representative confirmed to People that Rowlands, who was best known for her roles in A Woman Under the Influence and The Notebook, passed suddenly early on Wednesday, August 14, at her home in California. Rowlands was probably best recognised for her appearances in those two films. Her loved ones were all around her in the moments before her death. According to TMZ, the first news outlet to report on the event was “TMZ.”
In the wake of the tragic news that his mother had passed away, director Cassavetes posted a number of heartfelt tributes to his mother on his Instagram Stories.
The initial post included a picture of Rowlands from the film Gloria with the caption, “This picture has graced the walls of every office I’ve ever called home!” We have suffered the loss of a magnificent woman who was not only courageous but also talented. Gena Rowlands, you are invited to take it easy!
The same admirer made a second post with a picture of Rowlands and her late husband, the director John Cassavetes, who was Nick’s father. The photograph was in black-and-white resolution. Additionally, the shot was presented within the framework of their video titled “Opening Night.”
During the year 1989, John, who was 59 years old at the time of his death, passed away as a consequence of problems brought on by cirrhosis. John and Rowlands had a son named Nick and two daughters named Alexandra and Zoe, respectively.
celebration of the reunification of yet another incredible team! “My deepest condolences go out to Gena Rowlands,” was the caption of the post that was posted.
Rowlands and John worked together on 10 different films, some of which include Gloria, Opening Night, A Woman Under the Influence, and Minnie and Moskowitz. Among the films that they worked on together, there were ten.
Both the film A Woman Under the Influence (1974) and the film Gloria (1980) saw Rowlands receive nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actress. Both of these films were released in the 1970s.
Rowlands remarried Robert Forrest, a senior businessman who had previously spent his retirement years, in the year 2012.
In addition, Nick shared a story from producer Dajana Gudic, with whom he collaborated on the film Impulse, which featured a black-and-white photograph of Rowlands when she was younger.
However, the manner in which she brought up her son, my close friend @paul_smenus, says everything there is to know about her. I never had the opportunity to meet her. Gena Rowlands, may you rest in peace, beautiful soul,” Gudic said, inserting a succession of white heart emojis into the description she added to her post.
Nick disclosed to Entertainment Weekly in June that his mother had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease five years prior to the publication of the article.
In the film The Notebook, which was released in 2004, the two of them collaborated on the production. Nick directed his mother in her role as an older Allie, which went on to become one of her most famous roles.
