Numerous thousands of people showed up at a memorial to pay respects to the three young women who died in a knife attack at a Southport holiday club with Taylor Swift-inspired decor.
On Monday, three little girls, identified as Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine; Bebe King, six; and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, were stabbed to death in the town located in Merseyside.
However, Alice passed away in the hospital on Tuesday morning, while Bebe and Elsie passed away on Monday night.
There were many people who shed tears as they laid flowers and cards of sympathy outside of the Atkinson Arts facility in Southport on Tuesday evening because they were participating in a vigil.
On the other hand, there were violent scenes in the town later on in the evening, as police officers were hurt after grappling with rioters outside of a mosque in Southport.
Her parents are proud of “our princess.”
In a statement that was released after the identities of the three girls who were murdered were revealed, Bebe’s family wrote, “No words can describe the devastation that has hit our family as we try to deal with the loss of our little girl, Bebe.”
“Keep smiling and dancing like you love to be our princess; as we have said before to you, you are always our princess, and no one would change that,” said Alice’s family. “No one would ever change that.”
“Love from Your Hero Daddy and Mummy.”
The head of the school trust that Alice and Bebe attended stated that the girls “will be in our hearts forever until the end of time.”
David Clayton, the chief executive officer of Endeavour Learning Trust, commented that “no words can do justice to what has happened here in Southport” as he paid respect to Alice, a student at Churchtown Primary School who is in the fourth grade, and Bebe, a previous student.
Natasha Sandland, the headteacher at Bebe’s school, stated that “words cannot do justice to describe the grief.” She also referred to Bebe as one of Marshside Primary’s “brightest and most wonderful shining stars.”
Jennifer Sephton, the headmaster of Farnborough Road Infant School, expressed that the institution was “heartbroken and devastated” by the circumstances surrounding the passing of their student Elsie.
Taylor Swift, an American pop singer, previously stated that she was “completely at a loss” for how to show her condolences to the families affected by the tragedy. This statement was made when it became known that the children had been slain at an event that was themed around her music.
There are currently five more children who are still in a serious state in the hospital. The specific conditions of three additional children who were injured are unknown; however, all of these children are currently being treated in hospitals located throughout Liverpool and Manchester.
In the meantime, two adults who were gravely injured in the incident have been identified locally. They are yoga instructor Leanne Lucas, who co-organized the dancing event for children aged six to eleven years old, and John Hayes, who works at the Hart Space, which is the location where the stabbings took place.
In the aftermath of the stabbings that occurred on Hart Street, a young man from Banks, Lancashire, who is 17 years old, was taken into custody and is currently being held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
The hospital continues to house injured individuals.
Following the assault, both Ms. Lucas and Mr. Hayes are still being treated in the hospital for their grave injuries.
A picture of Ms. Lucas was included in a post that was published on a Facebook page for a local yoga organisation. The post read, “I am completely devastated.
Please pray for Leanne. Please pray for her. It was in December when Leanne participated in my training session. There was a young girl who was very passionate about helping children, and she was gorgeous and artistic.
His wife, Helen, who was 63 years old at the time, was attempting to subdue the assailant when he was stabbed in the leg.
Flower arrangements have been left at the police barrier that is still in place on Hart Street by well-wishers.
In a statement that she delivered to members of parliament in the House of Commons on Tuesday evening, the Home Secretary referred to the knife assault as an “unspeakable tragedy.”
Yvette Cooper expressed her gratitude to the emergency personnel that responded to the tragedy and stated that their actions exemplified “public service at its very best.”
She made the following statement to the general public, urging them to refrain from spreading destructive disinformation online: “It is extremely important that people do not spread damaging misinformation online on the internet.” Within the past twenty-four hours, there has already been widespread dissemination of false information.
“Those who do this for their own purposes run the risk of undermining an important criminal investigation, and I ask everyone to show some respect for the community in Southport as well as for families who are grieving and going through traumatic experiences.”
“In these dark and difficult moments, the police must be able to get on with their work and communities must be given the time and space to grieve and heal without outside voices seeking to use events to stir up division or advance their own views.”
During his earlier visit to Southport, the Prime Minister laid flowers amid the hundreds of other tributes that were placed at the cordon on Hart Street.
Sir Keir Starmer made the following statement to the media: “I came here to pay my respects to the victims and families who are going through raw pain and grief that the majority of us can’t imagine—I can’t imagine, as a dad myself.”
During his visit to the Southport police station, Sir Keir also said that he was “incredibly proud” of the way that the firefighters and ambulance staff responded to the tragedy. He did this by shaking their hands and expressing his gratitude.
Fans of Taylor Swift have raised more than 215,000 pounds through the “Swifties for Southport” Just Giving page for the funerals of the deceased children and the families of the injured. Additionally, the money will be donated to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, where some of the victims are currently being treated.
