A small child of two years of age who had been rescued from a canal in Wolverhampton has tragically passed away after being rescued from the canal.

Officers from the West Midlands Police Department were sent to the canal in Ettingshall in response to a call that was sent to the emergency number 999 at approximately 5.30 p.m. on Sunday.

In the vicinity of the canal towpath, law enforcement officers were able to rescue the child from the water and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him until the arrival of paramedics at the hospital.

It was reported in a statement that was issued by the police department that “he was taken to the hospital, but despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he sadly passed away.”

It was reported to the coroner that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death at the time of the death, and the police stated that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

It was claimed by the West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) that they received a call just after six o’clock in the evening and that they arrived at the location within three minutes of receiving the call.

The following statement was given by a representative for the WMAS: “Upon arrival, crews discovered a boy who had been pulled from the water by police colleagues in a critical manner.”

Initially, the officers were providing him with rudimentary life support; however, the specialists who were on board the ambulance immediately took over and began providing him with extensive life support.

“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of everyone involved, the child could not be saved, and it was confirmed that he had passed away at the scene.”

An announcement was made by the West Midlands police department, which read, “We are providing support to the family during this extremely difficult time.”

Today, we will have local officers present in the region with the purpose of fostering a sense of confidence and support among the populations we serve.

The canal towpath is situated close to a residential neighbourhood that is largely shielded from the canal by a metal fence. In addition, there is a path that leads down to the canal towpath.

According to a resident who spoke with the BBC, the information was disseminated through a group chat that was exclusive to people who live on the estate. After a child was reported missing, the local resident indicated that the police had been sent to the location to investigate the situation.

“What is happening right now is really terrible. As a proud dad of two young children, I am filled with pride. One of the inhabitants expressed their displeasure with the fact that this waterway is located a little more than a hundred metres away from their residence.
