There were 41 images on WhatsApp belonging to the 62-year-old individual, seven of which were of the most dangerous type.

Huw Edwards, a former newsreader for the BBC, has entered a guilty plea to the charge of creating obscene photographs of children.

During his appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, the 62-year-old man admitted to committing three offenses between the months of December 2020 and April 2022. He was dressed in a dark blue suit, a blue tie, and dark sunglasses.

Between December 2020 and April 2022, he uploaded a total of 41 photographs to WhatsApp. These included seven category A images, twelve category B pictures, and twenty-two category C pictures.

It was reported by the Metropolitan Police that he was taken into custody in November of the previous year and charged on June 26.

As stated by the CPS, the term “making” can encompass activities such as opening, accessing, downloading, and storing the content, as well as getting a picture through social media, even if it was not requested and even if it was the result of participation in a group.

Categories A and B are the most serious types of photographs, with category A images involving penetrative sexual behavior, sexual activity with an animal, or sadism, and category B images involving sexual activity that does not include penetrating the body.

At the time of his resignation in April, Edwards was one of the most prominent and well-paid presenters at the BBC.

wereHe had previously served as the host of the BBC’s News at Ten for twenty years, during which time he also anchored coverage of key national events. Among his responsibilities were the announcement of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and the coverage of her funeral.

According to the most recent annual report of the corporation, Edwards was formerly the highest-paid newsreader at the BBC. He was offered a pay range that ranged from £475,000 to £479,999 for the year 2023/24, which included 160 presenting days, BBC One news specials, election specials, and other television programs.
