Despite having been born in Cardiff, the young man was taken into custody on Monday. He is originally from a nearby village in Lancashire.

A young man, identified as Axel Rudakubana, has made an appearance in court and has been charged with murder and attempted murder following a mass stabbing that occurred in Southport. Rudakubana is 17 years old.

Bebe King, who was six years old, Elsie Dot Stancombe, who was seven years old, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, who was nine years old, were the three children that passed away as a direct result of the attack that took place at The Hart Space community center.

At the time of the incident, a “Taylor Swift Yoga and Dance Workshop” was being held in the seaside town, which is located to the north of Liverpool. The workshop was geared for children who were between the ages of seven and eleven years old and were in the second to sixth years of primary school.

Born in Cardiff, Wales, Rudakubana was taken into custody on Monday. He is originally from a nearby village in Lancashire, but he was born in Cardiff.

In most cases, the defendant would be allowed to remain anonymous due to the fact that he is under the age of 18.

Judge Andrew Menary KC, however, did not conceal the identity of Rudakubana, who will turn 18 in six days. This judgment was deemed “exceptional” by the judge.

The judge in Liverpool stated that people would be able to “spread misinformation” if they did so.

“Whilst I accept it is exceptional given his age, principally because he is 18 in six days time, I do not make an order under section 45,” he explained to reporters.

He concluded by saying: “Continuing to prevent the full reporting has the disadvantage of allowing others to spread misinformation, in a vacuum.”

In light of the fact that Rudakubana was charged with three charges of murder, ten counts of attempted murder, and possession of a knife, he has been placed in juvenile custody while awaiting further proceedings.

A court appearance was made by Rudakubana on Thursday morning at the Liverpool Magistrates’ Court.

The defendant was informed by Judge Menary that they will be remanded to a youth detention facility until the conclusion of these proceedings.

“That position might change when you achieve your majority in a short while.”

On the 25th of October, a hearing for the preparation of Rudakubana’s trial and plea has been scheduled to take place at Liverpool Crown Court.
