After Reverend Stephen Burch retired at the end of the previous year, the Diocese of Coventry stated that the news came as a “shock” to them.
An automobile accident that occurred as a husband and wife were walking near a pier has resulted in their deaths, and tributes have been offered to them.
It was earlier revealed by the police that two pedestrians were among the three people who passed away as a result of the collision that occurred in North Wales on Wednesday in the town of Beaumaris on Anglesey. The collision involved a grey Audi A8.
The driver of the vehicle, a local guy who was 81 years old, also passed away at the scene of the accident.
The pedestrians have been identified as Reverend Stephen Burch and his wife Kathy, both of whom are sixty-five years old and hail from Alcester, which is located in the county of Warwickshire.
The diocese issued a statement in which it noted that the news came as a “shock” because Reverend Burch had only retired at the end of the previous year.
Over the course of thirty-five years, he had served the diocese in a variety of capacities, the most recent of which was as the vicar of St. James’s church in the Fletchamstead region for a period of nineteen years.
His “good humour and unwavering faith” earned him the reputation of being a “popular member” of the diocese, according to the way he was portrayed.
Additionally, the diocese stated that Mrs. Burch was well-known for her work with the Church Pastoral Aid Society (CPAS) as well as her involvement in worship ministry.
The pair demonstrated that they were “still very active” inside the diocese throughout the year that they were retired.
The Burch family has requested that their privacy be respected as they come to grips with their “devastating, unexpected loss,” according to a representative for the diocese, who stated that the bishop’s sympathies were with them.
On Wednesday, soon after 2.45 p.m., North Wales Police arrived at the scene of the collision that occurred in Beaumaris.
There were three fatalities at the incident on Alma Street, which is located close to Beaumaris Pier. Both members of the general public and emergency services personnel raced to assist those who were in need.
In the meantime, officers are working to determine the exact circumstances around what took place, and they have asked the public not to speculate.
In the aftermath of the collision, the area surrounding the high street was shut down for a period of time, and the general public was strongly advised to stay away from the area.
