During the bank holiday weekend, two individuals were killed in separate attacks that occurred during the Notting Hill Carnival. Both of these attacks occurred during the festival.

When she was stabbed, Cher Maximen, who is 32 years old, was present at the event with her child on the previous Sunday. On Saturday morning, she found her death.

According to the police, officers provided Ms. Maximen with emergency medical care until the arrival of paramedics. Following that, she was transported to the hospital in a critical condition.

“Cher was at the funfair with her young child,” stated Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila, who is of the Homicide Command of the Metropolitan Police Department.

“We have been in close contact with our local authority partners and Cher’s family since soon after this incident to make sure the child is safe and looked after.”

A separate incident occurred in which Mussie Imnetu, who was in the United Kingdom for business purposes, was assaulted.

On Monday evening, the Swedish national chef, who was 41 years old and lived and worked in Dubai, was discovered unconscious on Queensway with a head injury. He claimed to have been working in Dubai.

Mr. Imnetu, who has previously worked with celebrity chefs such as Marcus Wareing and Gordon Ramsay, is leaving behind a kid who is eight years old.

His employer, The Arts Club, stated that he was a passionate football player and that he notoriously relied on his kid, who was now eight years old, to evaluate the quality of his culinary delights.

“Known for his passion, calm demeanour, and kindness, Mussie truly embodied the club’s essence,” according to an official statement. “His legacy will live on through the passion and excellence he instilled in those around him.”

After beginning his career at The Arts Club London in 2011, Mr. Imnetu went on to become the head chef at The Brasserie Dubai, a private members’ club that debuted in the year 2020.

The influencer Marie-Claire Accordino, who hails from Dubai, has also paid respect to the deceased.

As a supporter of The Arts Club in Dubai, she stated, “I knew Mussie. He was a very well-liked and respected individual.” Mussie was a patron of the club. We are heartbroken to learn this news because he was a good-natured individual who will be greatly missed by both his fellow employees and the customers.

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, is quoted as saying that the deaths are “heartbreaking” and that the violence is “shocking, completely unacceptable, and a betrayal of the values that [Notting Hill] Carnival was founded to celebrate.”

The news of the killings was described as “deeply distressing and shocking” by Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, who also stated that “this terrible and appalling violence has no place on our streets.”

A twenty-year-old man named Shakiel Thibou was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with the attempted murder of Ms. Maximen. It has been decided to keep him in detention.

Mr. Imnetu was remanded in custody after Omar Wilson, age 31, was charged with causing him to suffer severe bodily harm with the purpose to cause him harm.

When asked about Mussie’s family, friends, and coworkers in London, Dubai, Sweden, and Eritrea, Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie stated, “Mussie’s family, friends, and colleagues are inconsolable after receiving the worst news imaginable.”

Mr. Imnetu left The Arts Club in Dover Street, Mayfair, around one o’clock in the afternoon, and he arrived at Dr. Power restaurant in Queensway, west London, at approximately 10.30 o’clock in the evening. The police have stated that they are eager to speak with anyone who can assist them in putting together Mr. Imnetu’s movements between those two times.

Before he arrived at the restaurant by himself, he is alleged to have purchased a white baseball cap and was dressed in black pants and a blue T-shirt.

“If you visited the restaurant between 10pm and 11.30 p.m. on Monday night or were in the area and saw something, regardless of the reason you were there, please do get in touch,” the deputy chief of police added.

Those in charge of organising the Notting Hill Carnival expressed their “shock” at the horrific fatalities that occurred.

“We stand together against all violence and condemn these acts, which are against all funfair values and the millions of people who come in celebration of them,” they stated in their statement.
