Woman Racks Up £800 Bill at Diplomat Hotel, Leaves Without Paying: Owner Appeals for Information

A woman accumulated an £800 bill while enjoying three nights of luxury at the Diplomat Hotel in Felinfoel, Carmarthenshire, before leaving without settling her account, claims hotel owner Paul Jenkins.

According to Jenkins, the woman stayed at the hotel from June 10-13, racking up a bill of £802.55 for her meals and accommodations. Despite her apparent enjoyment of fish and chips, steak, and wine, she left without a trace. Staff were left “gutted” by the incident.

Dyfed-Powys Police are now investigating the case and have appealed to the public for any information regarding the woman’s identity. Jenkins believes the woman booked the stay under a false corporate name and shared CCTV images on social media, hoping to identify her.

“The response has been fantastic, but we still don’t know who she is,” Jenkins said. “It would be nice if she’s found and maybe we can recoup some of the money, but we hope that she doesn’t do this somewhere else.”

The incident has added financial strain to the hotel, which, like many in the hospitality industry, is still recovering from the impacts of COVID-19. “We have never had a problem like this,” Jenkins added. “It’s quite a lot to deal with. All the bills need to be paid. It’s not nice, we were pretty gutted.”

Police confirmed they received a call on June 17 regarding the unpaid bill and are conducting inquiries to identify the woman.
